The State of Connecticut, Department of Administrative Services (DAS), Real Estate and Construction Services Division (RECS), Division of Regulatory Compliance, is currently accepting applications for the position of Demolition and Crane Operations Inspector, in Hartford, CT. RECS is charged with state building and fire plan review, inspections, and construction.

THE ROLE
As a Demolition and Crane Operations Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and compliance of crane operations and demolition activities. Responsibilities of the Demolition and Crane Operations Inspector include:
Crane Operations:
Administer the crane operation licensing program, including reviewing applications, conducting written examinations, and evaluating practical examinations for crane operators;
Serve as administrative staff for the crane board and inspect work sites for crane operator licenses;
Collaborate with federal OSHA agents to investigate accidents involving cranes that result in bodily injury or substantial monetary damage;
Gather information and write detailed reports, and testify at hearings and in court as necessary;
Assign and review the work of clerical staff, ensuring flawless execution of administrative tasks.
Demolition:
Conduct field inspections of demolition sites to ensure compliance with state codes and check for certification;
Provide technical assistance to local officials and support them in enforcing demolition codes
Investigate and address complaints related to demolition activities;
Gather information, compile comprehensive reports, and testify at hearings and in court when required;
Administer the demolition operation licensing program, reviewing applications and ensuring compliance.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Full-time, 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday schedule.
Hybrid/telework opportunities available, combination of in office and telework
Location: 450 Columbus Blvd, Hartford, CT
Qualifications & Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of experience as a supervisor for a large demolition company OR as a certified Class A demolition contractor including extensive experience in crane operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
A crane operator's license may be substituted for the experience in crane operations only.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
CT licensed Crane Operator
Class A Demolition Contractor
Experience with computer software including E-License
Knowledge of Crane & Demolition Statutes
