Interview:
Jen Fad is a Christian Working Mom (CWM); a trained registered nurse by profession who has been married for 10 years and has a child entering first grade. Jen shares the following joys in being a CWM:
~ I have the opportunity to balance the best of all my world(s). Working outside of the home allows me not only to have income to help my family, but it gives me seed to sow into the Kingdom and into the lives of others in need.
~I have the privilege of caring for people who are spiritually, emotionally, and physically ill in order to restore them back to health. I love being able to help my patients by performing simple acts of kindness like bathing them, making their beds, and giving them medications.
~I love learning new things and being able to interact with people in the workplace from different generations (Baby Boomers, Gen X, and Gen Y). It has really made me a more knowledgeable person and has given me the opportunity to share in my colleagues joys such as celebrations of marriages, births, and wedding anniversaries.
~I also get to share in my colleagues’ pain. Recently two of my colleagues were ill and out of work as a result of which they found themselves on the receiving end of the care they were used to giving to others. I was able to reach out to them to let them know how much I cared for them. They have both since returned to work.
~Lastly, the best part of being a CWM is knowing that I have a family to come home to. Jen struggles as a CWM with diplomacy when communicating with others at times. I believe that Jesus is still working on me in that regards. I'm glad He's not finished with me yet; her favorite Bible verse is: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13.
God is teaching me how to be who He intended me to be in spite of what others think I should be.
Jen shares the following words of Encouragement for other Christian Working Moms: We as women should make a better effort to encourage one another as the days grow near to the Second coming of the Messiah. It's really easy to be caught up in our own families and lives, but there is a real need to minister to other women and to encourage other Christians. Jen says while I love being a Nurse, Motherhood is by far the most rewarding occupation yet.
Final Thoughts
Thanks Jen for reminding us we always need to have an eternal perspective about things going on in our lives. Too often we get stuck in the temporal and don’t have an eternal perspective. Our life lived here on earth is really very short and we need to serve God with all He has called us to do. I’m learning every day I must do my daily tasks in the power of the Holy Spirit instead of my own strength. “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecution, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:8-10.
