[...]When we pray, we are turning our eyes to our Father and communicating our love, our joy, our faith and expectation in Him. We are calling on His name that is the fullness of every covenantal promise and blessing and delighting in Him. In prayer there is an exchange, like the kiss of Heaven. We breathe Him in and exhale out His answer to the earth.
It is His delight to answer us. When we come, we should come expecting His open arms and open door: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened" (Matthew 7:7-8).
This is the posture Jesus tells us to take when we come, "Whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive" (Matthew 21:22, see also Mark 11:24). ...
