KENYA 'S NOBEL LAUREUATE DIES

The first African woman to win the Nobel Peace prize has died. Wangari Maathai was awared the peace prize in 2004 for her movement and organization she founded called the Green Belt Movement. Maathai died after a struggle with cancer. Her organization in 1977 helped poor women in rural communities to meet basic survival needs such as food, firewood and clean drinking water. Later, her movement focused also on women's rights and establishing peace. The organizations has grown to assist hundred of thousands of women and also men to planting at least 47 million trees. In addition her life journey gave her a college education in the United States during the civil rights era and serving as a member of the Kenyan parliament along with the country's Deputy Enviornment Minister. Maathai was active in the Nobel Women's Initiative joining other female peace prize supporters of women's rights around the world. She was 71.

The Claremont Lincoln University takes a pround moment in being one of the first mult-religious academic institution and newest model for theological education. The new schools offers master's programs in interreligious studies and Muslim leadership in addition to 3 founding institutions ...The Claremont School of Theology, The Academy for Jewish Religion and The Islamic Center of Southern California. Any students enrolled may also take courses at the other schools. Chairman of the Board David Lincoln donated $50 million dollars to see the university become a reality. Lincoln was quoted in the source as saying "The religions will be promoting peace in the world and not fighting each other; in a a lot of places they fight eachother, and if the religions could encourage solutions to the problems then the problems would be solved and we'd all be better off." It is the future hope of the school to develop a harmony and resolution for all religions and people to show love toward their neighbors. The new multi religion school main goal is unity with programs in education as well as religious morals to bring about compassion and peace. The school houses students made up of Christian, Muslim and Jewish institutions which all have a common goal in desegregation theological education.
