DAY 17
Fairfield, CT
East to West met in a crash!
Two commuter trains with about 700 passengers were met with a crash collision At rush hour on Friday, May 17, 2013 the two commuter trains serving New York; one east bound and the other west bound were on separate tracks, when one derailed hitting the other. At least 60 riders were sent to the hospital with five resulted in critical injuries.
Many of the passengers on board the two trains described the scene as one with falling down and bouncing around and sliding in the aisles. Amtrak has suspended commutes indefinitely for commutes between New York and Boston. Investigators are following up the cause of the accident, but are not certain of the cause of the derailment. Concerns still over the safety of the tracks will be attention, as other tracks were being repaired when the accident happened. Sources said that Connecticut has an old system and no alternate tracks. There were many injuries, bumps and bruises, but no fatalities reported.
That was really a close commute...Oops! I did a collide with two photos! My badd...I can't seem to remove it yet. But I'll keep trying.
