The astounding British Academy of Film and Arts awarded the film 12 years with best actor's award to Chiwetel Ejiofor . The producers Steve McQueen and Brad Pitt picked awards for the film in the Best Picture of the Year category. In addition to the notary of the very important award for filmmakers and actors, this gives some highlights as how the same film make breakthrough in the American Academy Awards. Oscars may be just waiting in the line up to give 12 years it's selected honor as a film based on a true life story of a educated free man, caught in being returned to the salvation of a freed.
