Idris Elba has welcomed a son. The 41-year-old actor announced he has become a father for the second time via Twitter earlier today. He confirmed the news with a picture of the newborn grasping his finger.
"My son Winston Elba was born yesterday. Truly amazing :)," he wrote. The tot's name is believed to be in tribute to the star's late father Winston, who lost his battle with lung cancer in September 2013.
The newborn's mother is make-up artist Naiyana Garth, with the pair choosing to keep their romance largely low-key. Her pregnancy wasn't known until late last year, with the couple then walking the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards in January.
"Idris and Naiyana are so in love and this is the icing on the cake for them," a source said last year. "They had been keeping it quiet as it's early in the pregnancy, but they've told family and friends and Naiyana is beginning to show."
Idris is already father to 11-year-old Isan, who he has with his ex-wife Dormowa Sherman. The actor is known for his roles in shows like The Wire and Luther, but his daughter remains unaffected by his fame.
