BEWARE THE KNIVES OF MARCH: ATTACKER SLASHES U.S. ENVOY (768 hits)

A mild breakfast meeting in Seoul turned into a over drama as U.S. Envoy Mark Lippert dined with Seoul officials.  Lippert was a victim of  a surprised attacker who sliced his face.  In addition,  Lippert was also cut on his left hand.   The attacked happened around 7:40 a.m. Seoul time on March 04, 2015.   The attacker was easily captured was named as a military mililtant who wants both North and South Korea to be b reunified according to news story.  The man identified as 55 year old Kim Ki-jong acted alone in the attack according to witnessess.  Ki-jong is said to believe that the United States are only warmongers according to news media story.  Lippert was taken to the hospital and received treatment for slash on the right side of his cheek and hand.  He was said to have received 80 stitches for his wounds.  The alleged attacker,  Ki-jong was also taken under arrest to the hospital.  Police in Seoul will conduct an investigation of Ki-jong home to see if there are any ties with any North Korean group.  Doctors said the U.S. Envoy did not receive any serious injury to his salvia glands or any major blood vessels or nerves.    Lippert later tweeted "Doing well,  in great spirits."
