"Wives Are To Honor, Respect and Follow Their Husband's Lead": Actor Kirk Cameron's Controversial Marital Advice
Outspoken actor Kirk Cameron has some pretty conservative views on marriage, and a recent statement he made encouraging wives to stay submissive for the sake of the relationship has stirred up quite a bit of controversy.
In a recent interview with the Christian Post, the actor stated that he believed each partner has a specific role in the relationship, and that the wife's role is definitely not one of leader. "Wives are to honor and respect and follow their husband's lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband."
He went on to say that when each person gets their role down right, regardless of how their partner treats them, that's when hope for real change in the marriage can occur.
Cameron has advice for the husbands as well, and encourages them not to argue with their wives when disagreeing on something, which he believes will help their children go on to experience healthy relationships.
"In order for you to win, your husband or wife has to lose. When they lose, you have not built up your marriage. You have really cut them down," he advises.
"A lot of people don't know that marriage comes with instructions, and we find them right there in God's word," Cameron said.
